I will be speaking to the membership of the Northern California Chapter of the National Association of Computer Consultant Businesses (NACCB) on Tuesday, October 21st, 2008. The topic is "Staffing Company Compensation -- Is It Time For A Change?" Below is a brief description of my talk.
During his 20+ years consulting, Kent Romanoff has noted a disturbing compensation trend in staffing companies:
“Most new Account Managers go through a predictable transition -- They barely make enough money to survive for the first couple years, do pretty well for the next few years, and after that I start getting calls from owners who want to reduce their pay because they feel they have become complacent and are overpaid.”
Something needs to be done about this disturbing trend. Is there a way to structure Account Manager compensation to break this cycle? Kent will explore this issue, as well as other important topics in staffing company compensation such as:
- Why one-size-fits all commission plans don’t work.
- Ways to use compensation to grow your business.
- Compensation in ESOP companies.
- The effective use of incentives for all your company’s employees.
- A new on-line incentive design tool that makes creating and managing incentives easy.
Kent has an easy-going presentation style and tailors his remarks to the specific needs of the group. He always leaves plenty of time for questions and discussion. Please join us for this interesting and dynamic evening of dialogue that will get you thinking about how to improve your pay programs for the coming year.
I invite all current and prospective members to join us at the Hotel Sofitel, 223 Twin Dolphin Drive, Redwood Shores, CA 94065.
The speech begins at 5:00 pm with a reception before at 4:00 pm. I look forward to seeing you there.
